With the World Cup almost finished, I couldn't resist making a new post, but it won't be about any results. Firstly, I apologize to all fans, but I find football or soccer (if you're reading from “across the pond") relatively dull. Most of the time, I can barely suppress a giggle when the players spend more time diving and simulating than actually playing. Hard to understand why they earn millions for it. Tom, like all his friends, is a huge football fan, and though I don't share his passion, I agreed to watch some matches with him on the condition that I get to pick the next program.
At one point, a player was rolling on the
ground after a rough tackle, obviously hit “where it counts”, and showing his
discomfort to the whole world. Somehow, I couldn’t help but comment, “Look at
that poor boy. I hope those wimps are wearing a cup.” Obviously, this remark
upset Tom. He glared at me and shot back, "You got this bullshit from that
bitch Linda, didn’t you?" I just grinned at him but refrained from any
further sarcastic remarks. Nevertheless, it reminded me of one of the hilarious
stories Linda had told us during the self-defense course. To cheer things up,
she often shared humorous (or morale-boosting) stories in her teaching. Once,
she recounted an amusing incident that was very enlightening, as we were right
in the middle of learning proper kicking techniques.
Kicking ball(s) can be fun
Linda not only taught her female players how to properly strike a ball, but also…balls!😋 Why restrict themselves to kicking just the big one when you can kick two little ones, too? And yes, Linda told us that footballers normally don’t wear a cup, which can be a blessing or not, depending for whom. That’s why you can see anxious players covering their crotch during a free kick. To protect what is their most precious, yet very vulnerable.
Their tactic was clear: to weaken their male physical dominance, equalize the natural differences, create disruption, and score as much as possible! Even a light contact on the right spot can do the job. And the ladies even knew how to make it look like an accident or to keep it extremely inconspicuous. Normally illegal, but these intentional mishaps can easily be mistaken for a foot missing the “right ball”, swinging the hand back to keep balance, or just poor aim when the free-kicked ball flies to the sensitive spot, regardless of the hand-made protection. Amid the game's commotion, it's hard to spot these, yet the results are absolutely formidable. Sometimes, even no actual physical contact is necessary. Just a quick movement around that sensitive area with a hand or a leg is enough to trigger the protective reflex and distraction, giving the needed advantage.
According to Linda, the game soon turned into a hilarious show. Instead of presenting elegant passing, attacking, and scoring many goals, boys have been almost constantly rolling on the ground, whimpering in pain, and getting frustrated and angry. The girls enjoyed the “ball play” they created, having even more fun mocking the poor boys in agony and even acting like “concerned paramedics” rushing to assess the damage to the anguished men's packages. Fake apologies have not eased the pain either.

| It hurts a lot |
The guys assertively protested to Linda, who
took on the role of referee for the match. However, their complaints had absolutely no
effect. Of course, “she hadn't seen a thing” and completely overlooked her
trainees' foul play, instead blaming the guys for the simulation and making excuses
for their failure to keep the lead.
At the end, the match ended in a draw, 3:3 or
something, still a pathetic score for such a promising elite team. The embarrassed
stayed with the ego-defeated team, limping into the showers, while the
victorious ladies playfully teased their opponents. “If you want, we can come
over and make sure everything down there is still functioning." Apparently,
the male team's coach later complained to Linda, but she shrugged it off. “Next
time, have them wear cups! And teach them not to make a drama out of a little friendly match.
"I
taught the girls well," Linda finished the story, sounding proud but also
a bit mischievous. And what is the moral of the story? A win over, even most fit young men do not
need to rely on strength, and girls are fully capable of properly handling any ball(s). When
teaching kicking and kneeing, Linda used a football and the principles and
mechanics of the game movements, but that will be for another post…

DeleteNice to see you posting again, even if it is a short, primarily humorous post.
ReplyDeleteRoughly, what percentage of Linda's morale-boosting stories involved some sort of testicle pain?
Hi Jay, there were countless Linda's stories involving testicles ;) Basically, all of them. Just kidding, some were testicle damage free ;) I am also preparing more serious educational posts on different topics, but I am busy at the moment. Regards, Wendy
DeleteThis hits home for me. A woman joined our gym who looked to be a bit older, but I guess had a little bit of training from years earlier. Being an older man about her age, I paired up with her and no sooner did she launch a kick that caught me square in the groin.
ReplyDeleteThe thing that really shook me was how much that kick seemed to close the skill gap between us. I really struggled to keep up with her from that point on. There is something about that radiating pain from my abdomen that really kills any will to win or keep on fighting afterward.
Hi Rodney, yes, testicles are a great equalizer. No training or workout can overcome this ;) I do understand that for men, it can be quite frustrating, but that's simply biology. Regards, Wendy
DeleteI think the Argentines, given what they did and didn't do at this World Cup, are also worthy of a friendly match like this against Linda girl's team.
ReplyDeleteIt would be for the first time that they weren't faking it, and their rolling around on the ground in pain would have a legitimate basis.😉
Hi Stan, to be fair, maybe all teams should have a "friendly" match with Linda's team so they get the memo that they are not such champions, as they all think ;) The skills in kicking balls have different sides. Regards Wendy
DeleteBUt why? its so painful for the man. my gf does it move on my poor sagging nuts. she comes in from behind and kicks or squeezes them and i am COMPLETELY HELPLESS. so painful even to talk about it. my balls swell up and hurt for days. its unfair to abuse my dangling orbs in this manner. they are for procreation not to target anytime women feel like they want a good laugh.
ReplyDeleteWell, Bogdan, that's the nature's ingenious design ;) Simply, you have to accept it as it is. It would be a waste for testicles to be for procreation only; having fun is also important ;) You should be happy she knows how to defend herself, BTW. Regards Wendy
Deletethis makes me curious. if you sparred against a guy Wendy. Would you prefer steet fighting rules from the beggining or fair fight rules and attack the testicles on a sneaky way?
ReplyDeleteHi André, for me, no rules at all ;) I prefer it in the most unfair way, sorry guys. Faking playing by the rules and then bye-bye testicles... Regards Wendy
DeleteBye-bye testicles? Did anyone in your class ever go on to actually have to squish some balls - any actual nutcrackers in your ranks? Haha
DeleteVery fun post hahaha
ReplyDeleteSo which was more common, 'misplaced' kicks, backhands or off-center balls? The kicks seem like they'd definitely be the most effective!
Hi, I think the most common were backhands; they can be more easily faked as an accident, but still produce results. Kicks are definitely the most powerful and can completely take a player out of action, but are also quite dangerous to the genitals, given that they don't wear a cup. I believe the female team was not so malicious; it was just a friendly match, not a World Cup ;) Regards, Wendy
DeleteI was a really dumb, naive teenager who was insecure about the idea of having a uniquely male vulnerability, so I convinced myself it was a "girl power myth" that "doesn't actually hurt." Shared this belief with a girl on my school's soccer team, argument ensued, I dared her to prove me wrong...
ReplyDeleteTurns out, I was wrong. It absolutely hurts. Devastatingly lol
Hi, as many men have already accounted, they made a similar mistake (sorry for them). It's not a myth, it is a well-established fact backed by many real-life (painful) evidence ;) She simply won an argument. Regards Wendy
DeleteI was a varsity soccer player in High School. If you’re not familiar with this term, it’s a USA term, I played on the official high school team. We all wore cups, even in practice. It was part of the required gear like shins pads. It didn’t offer complete protection, but some degree.
ReplyDeleteI think to an experienced player and team, it would be fairly or very obvious if there was an intent to injury or target your testicles with a kick. It would really stand out. I think in the many varsity games and practices we had, I never saw it once. This is what would make it stand out if it happened several times during a game or scrimmage.if such tactics Linda employed also involved hand hits, this is something I also never experienced, in pick up games or otherwise. So it would really stand out.
Hi Daryl, well, maybe that's because you have not stood against a skilled Linda's team ;) Sure, what her team did is obviously not a common tactic. But sometimes, guys, especially those who are overconfident in their physical capabilities, need such a humbling life lesson, and realize those orbs down there are not just a source of their masculinity but also the greatest weakness. And Linda is an expert in this. Regards Wendy
DeleteNice story. Thank you Wendy. And please give more funny stories from Linda or from other women. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteHi, thanks, I am glad you like it. I am preparing more posts. Regards Wendy
DeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteThis past weekend, a woman was raped by a man. The woman was hiking alone in the woods and met a 49-year-old man who was also hiking. She asked him for directions. The man helped her, told her where to go, but then he started following her. Then he held a knife to her throat and tied her hands. After that, he successfully raped her. It turned out that the man had been released from prison about 2 months ago for committing the same crime. The man was quickly caught based on the woman's description. My question is simply: what can you do if a blade is pressed against your neck?

Hi, a horrible story, it shows how important it is for women to learn self-defense, but also in a proper way to be prepared for all scenarios. In this case, never attempt to fight or struggle; wait till he puts the knife down and play along. Wait for the right moment, you can execute the most devastating technique so he passes out quickly. The best moment is when he removes his pants/underwear so you have access to his exposed testicles. I already described the most effective methods you can use. If all women went through Linda's training, there would be significantly fewer such tragic cases. Regards Wendy
DeleteI would love to hear more about how you trained kicking techniques in Linda's class. I'm particularly interested in Bob and Peter's role in the training. Surely it would have been necessary to kick Bob and Peter in the testicles quite hard, in order to observe their physical reactions, no?
ReplyDeleteHi, I am preparing more posts about the course and what we have learned. Yes, Bob and Peter were very helpful in understanding the techniques, mechanisms, and seeing real-life reactions. Sometimes it was not necessary to go full force to see that it works perfectly. Regards Wendy
DeleteThe title of this blog is "last resort self defense," but this story is not about a 'last resort' situation; it's not even about self defense, for that matter. In your opinion, is it okay for a girl to intentionally hit a boy in the testicles, just because she feels like it? It is a famously controversial question. Personally, I think it's all in good fun, and there's really no reason not to; but my guy friends in high school and college seemed to see things differently : p
