Zap those balls! ⚡

During the last lockdown we watched with Tom a lot of movies. The selection was quite diverse, Tom likes thrillers and action movies, I rather prefer movies to be romantic or artsy, so we had to alternate styles to satisfy both of us. It somehow happened we stumbled across a movie called ‘Eight legged freaks’ about inhabitants of a small Arizona town terrorized by giant mutated spiders. Rather a B-movie sure, but I admit it was actually a quite entertaining slack, not to mention seeing young Scarlett Johansson before she became famous. In one scene Ashley (played by Johansson) and her boyfriend Bret (played by Matt Czuchry) ended up in a pickup truck in the middle of the Arizona desert. For the horny guy it was apparently a right moment to try to push their relationship to a more intimate sphere. However, Ashley wanted to keep her virginity for a little bit longer and maybe did not see that dirty truck in the dusty desert as a very romantic setting. When the overzealous boy disrespected Ashley’s NO, she took a stun gun from her handbag and zapped his balls. This made a full stop to his unwanted advances. If you haven’t seen the movie, don’t worry I won’t make any more spoilers here.

There is always a risk in disrespecting a girl's NO

Tom and I had completely different reactions to this scene; Tom commented A hysterical bitch. I opposed his opinion No Tom, the boy just got what he deserved. Next time he will be more attentive to the wishes of his girlfriend.  Tom just shook his head in disagreement but then rather focused on the following action.

These movie scenes are not always a non-realistic fiction and sometimes do provide quite good ideas on different scenarios in female self defense, often not covered by conventional courses. Self defense tools for women’s protection is a broad and interesting topic, and as other aspects of female self defense, are shrouded in many controversies and dangerous misconceptions. You can hear or read a wide range of opinions from The best thing you can do is to buy a pepper spray, you’ll be safe to These stupid gadgets are just to make money and do not work. We already talked about the pepper spray and the penis as a neglected but highly sensitive target for capsaicin. Today I will discuss the stun gun also called the electroshock weapon.

As I mentioned before, Linda has never been a huge proponent of self defense tools but at the same time she has never disregarded them. She worried they might create a false sense of security and rather emphasized the idea that a girl should always learn the hand-to-hand techniques first and then to complement these skills with a protective tool. We had a couple of sessions where she described the proper usage of some of the common ones: pepper sprays, stun guns, keychains but also protective jewelry. Attacks usually come as a surprise and the tool might be just lying in your handbag or purse when needed. For this reason, when you appear in a risky situation, for instance being in a secluded area, you should firmly hold it in your hand to have it ready for the right moment. Often overlooked and rarely discussed is the applicability of these tools for last resort self defense. Even if a tool got forgotten and left unused initially, it might come in handy at the later stage of the attack. Linda covered this aspect in great depth during one of our training sessions. She brought three different types of stun guns. One was really big and scary looking; the second one was just a right size for a small woman’s hand. But our attention really grabbed the third one which looked like a pink lipstick.

Would you guess the pink lipstick
is actually a small stun gun?
“I would definitely buy this one as it looks super inconspicuous exclaimed Laura and immediately told us a story. Once one of her friends was talking to a bunch of guys, one of them was her secret crush. She accidentally dropped her handbag, and besides all that common girly stuff – makeups and brushes etc., a pack of condoms, a huge pepper spray and a stun gun fell out. The boy she liked joked It seems you have prepared a whole arsenal against us. She told me it was quite an embarrassing moment; she was blushing like hell, but saved the situation by saying Sometimes I simply have to stimulate guys with these.

We were all laughing. Linda commented Yes, professional models, like this black one, are used by police and are much powerful generating several millions of volts. But the lipstick-looking one, when used properly, can be effective as well, especially if used on the most sensitive areas of the attacker’s body. Their discreet appearance and small size are a plus. I do understand a woman feels much more comfortable carrying such a cute gadget rather than a huge weaponry”. She then explained us The principle of the stun gun is to generate a high voltage which creates an electric arc between two electrodes. The discharge causes the muscles to spasm and a lot of pain. It is a non-lethal weapon, but it leaves two burn marks which also tag the attacker. You should always aim at the most vulnerable areas such as the neck, the armpit or the genitals. The highest effect can be achieved if these points are exposed, but it works through clothing as well.

She then surprised us and took out a piezoelectric gas lighter from her backpack Who wants to try out how does it feel to get zapped? Linda asked the audience. Ana, as always, boldly volunteered. As instructed by Linda, she put her finger in the nozzle of the lighter. Linda then pressed the trigger and Ana immediately shook her hand and screamed in pain It f.cking hurts!

You see, and this is not even 1000 volts. Now imagine what several million volts can do. Any other volunteers? No surprise, there were none.

Linda then announced the next activity OK girls, now let me demonstrate the usage of this stun gun in some common attack scenarios. She put the middle-sized stun gun in her rocker style black handbag, hung it over the shoulder, and called out Bob and Peter to play out bad guys. For the first scenario, she asked Peter to grab her in a front bear hug. I think both boys loved, but at the same were dead afraid of these very close contacts with Linda. Some hesitation was always apparent.

Linda, in Peter's tight hold, then explained step by step what she was doing “As you can see my movement is restricted by his hands, but I am still able to sneakily put my hand in the handbag to grab my weapon. The most available area in this case is his genitals. It is the target closest to your hand and out of his sight. As soon as she was holding the gun in her hand, she quickly pressed the electrodes into Peter’s prominent bulge. Suddenly a harrowing cracking sound came out! We all got shocked, but you should have seen Peter’s face as he almost jumped out of his skin.

The silence was broken by Laura whispering in awe Did she just zap his balls?.

Linda was just smiling and hugged her ‘attacker’. Sorry Peter, that was just a sound effect, I defuncted the arc generator. Despite that affectionate hug, Peter looked at her in anger, but as usual this was his only protest.

Proper use of a stun on exposed testicles.
After a couple of demonstrations of other types of attacks, she moved on to discuss the instances when a stun gun can be used as a last resort self defense tool. As an example, she used the case of forced oral sex. “As always, the key is to deceive him. You can for instance tell him you want to use a condom you have in your purse. This creates a window of opportunity to secretly get hold of your weapon. It is important to never telegraph your intentions, try to keep it out of his sight as much as possible. His naked testicles are an excellent target for the electrocution. The best effect can be accomplished if the electrodes are positioned one at each testicle, so the discharge arc goes all across his genitals. Additionally, if the contact is made at the back of the scrotum, it makes it more difficult for him to budge or to pry it off him. You can even push him to your weapon with the other hand. Once he is stunned, use the opportunity to deliver additional debilitating blows. Do not hesitate to make his balls ache even more. Alternatively, if he has an erection, you might consider directing the electrodes to the exposed head of his penis. Greatly effective in eliminating any dirty sexual desires as well.”

She then turned to the cringing boys, raised her mighty device and triggered that horrible sound effect again Bob, now it is your turn to help me with the practical demonstration…

  1. I remember watching this scene as a young man, the sympathy pains I felt were off the charts. It still hurts to think about it to this day.

    1. Dear James I am sorry, I hope I did not cause you any more discomfort with the clip. To be honest, although I did not feel sympathy pains:), I did felt sympathy for the boy. She was indeed a little bit overreacting. She could have caused him some permanent damage. It would be really pity for such a cute boy :) Wendy

  2. Hand 2 hand always made the most sense as a starting point since a tool is only good if you have it while you can't really go somewhere and not have your hands on you.

    1. Absolutely, it makes sense. Not only hands, but also feet, knees, elbows.. These are all the time with you and ready and when you know how to use them properly you can do a number on your attacker. Self defense tools can be some kind of upgrade to an even higher level. Wendy

    2. Fictional horror movie or not, you obviously included it here to be somewhat representative of a situation where you would encourage a woman to use a conducted energy weapon against a man. You find her actions appropriate, if a 'little bit overacting'. Must have been momentary weakness brought on by the Christmas season that allowed you to let that much empathy seep out... Since in the movie clip they are driving through the desert, and I presume he's driving his own vehicle, or at least responsible for it, I would suggest that a perfectly appropriate response from him once he recovers from the severe pain she inflicted on him would be to remove her from his vehicle, so she could enjoy a nice walk home alone in the desert...

    3. You would be a terrible screen writer Evan. She left him in the desert to be chased by some giant mutated spiders in the following scene! BTW it was her right how she solved the situation once he disrespected her no.

    1. Well an interesting question. But maybe guys would be more qualified to answer that :) When I was a kid I put a pen in an electric heater and got shocked. It wasn't a pleasant experience for sure, still remember it to this day. Based what I have seen and learned at the course one common thing for both is a temporal paralysis, inability to move. But I think this topics requires a separate post. Wendy

    1. Hi Marco, with such a brief shock as it is in the movie scene there should be no permanent injury. It is just very painful :) With some prolong zapping it can cause a thermal damage of the internal tissue and there are reports of so called testicular torsion by rotating of the testis within the scrotum, twisting the cords which cuts off the blood supply resulting in necrosis, if not treated immediately. So be careful. Wendy

  6. Movies and TV series can be a good source of self defense moves, I am happy to see movies comes with variety of self defense moves. In the past they used to only use groin kick or knee, but now with the increased number of females directors we can see the grab ad squeeze scenes frequently, which is so good for educational purposes.
By the way It seems that you caused a lot of discomfort and fear toward all male followers, I did not imagine a movie scene could cause all of that. first time seeing guys being emotional to a movie scene!

    1. Excellent point. For most women, movies are actually the only source of information and ideas for self defense. So they serve a very important educational purpose. I noticed when watching a movie with Tom and I cry till I am drenched with tears because of some heartbreaking love scene he just becomes very sarcastic. It drives me crazy. Now I know that maybe with some right cinematographic choice I can make him a more emotional and attentive viewer :)

BTW, I would love to see those pitch meetings when a female director explains such a scene to male producers. '...and in the next scene we want to make the male viewers to feel some sympathy for the lead character, so the woman grabs and squeezes his testicles...' It would hilarious to see their reaction, maybe better than the movie itself :) Thanks for your comment and have a nice day. Wendy

      Delete
    2. Totally agree with you, it would be amazing to see these kind of meeting.
as I am always wandering are those scenes realistic? do actresses really grab the balls? If so, how do actors feel? especially if they have to repeat the scene over and over, it would be so good to be able to watch that.

      Delete
    3. Good question, but unfortunately I do not know. I have read a few accounts about shooting sex scenes and how awkward it was, but never about scenes of busting balls. Maybe they do make it for real to get some very believable reactions :) But my guess is they use doubles for this. You rarely see both the actor face and his groin at the same time. Definitelly it would be hilarious to see the making of of such scenes. Starting with the explanation of the director to the female lead what is she supposed to do with the balls, till the tenth take when the raged dissatisfied director would be just screaming 'Squeeze those balls for real so he does not need to act and we can go home!' :) BTW, if anybody has an insight from the film industry about this topic to share please comment or send me an email. 7. Well, I see the new year hasn't brought you any better self-awareness skills, has it Wendy?

I find it interesting, but hardly surprising how you find both humor and satisfaction in males experiencing pain from having their testicles kicked/squeezed. etc., and enjoy commenting on opportunities for more of the same, such as what you suggest in your post above. Yet, despite posts like this and others I have yet to submit comments in response to, you presumably continue to claim that you're neither a sadist nor a man-hater. No doubt your boyfriend/future husband (your words) has no real clue as to who the person he might be marrying really is, and what they believe...

    2. Perhaps you were expecting/hoping that I would magically start to agree with the bizarre justifications you present on your blog for any and all actions taken against men, such as that described in the video clip? "A little bit overreacting' you claimed? I can only imagine what you would say if a woman reached over to kiss her boyfriend for presumably the first time and he pushed the probes of a conducted energy weapon into her breast - say right into her nipple? I suspect that it wouldn't be as tepid as 'as little bit overreacting', would it now? More like life imprisonment of the death sentence for him...

  8. To add a little factual information to your post, conducted energy weapons generally, and with very, very few exceptions, discharge around 30,000 to 50,000 volts. Perhaps there are home-made versions that are more than this, but nothing commercially produced. The current (amperage) is in the range of a few milliamps.

  9. 'Despite that affectionate hug, Peter looked at her in anger, but as usual this was his only protest.'

One can presume that you included the 'as usual this was his only protest' to infer that he could not do anything else, and that Linda was 'superior', and therefore she could do whatever the hell she liked to the two guys. After all, she had the dean's carte blanche support along with signed waivers. It's stunning how you use the displays of so-called 'affection' by Linda towards the two training dummies as some sort of compensation for how she treated them. How typical of someone that hates men, as you most certainly do.

    1. Ahh Evan, whatever Linda did, you would be complaining. When Linda is strict, not OK, when she is affectionate and caring, not OK. You should first sort this out. Of course Linda enforce discipline. She was the authority during that course. I guess you also had to respect your commander during your training. What Bob and Peter were supposed to do? Start to fight with her? It would not end up good for them :)

    2. Why is it you're afraid of posting my responses to this- calling you out on the rationale (or lack thereof) for including that phrase about Peter being unable to do anything when he hugged Linda at her 'order'. What are you afraid of?

    3. Evan I am not afraid of posting your responses, I just don't want to bother readers of this blog with your intellectual vomits. Sorry for the expression. I guess for you it would be just another sign I am a sadist. To that Peter-related phrase, yes it was meant with tongue in cheek. She was the 'commander' of the self defense course and they were subordinates. But that's how things have to be organized sometimes. Or are you used to anarchy as the organizational principle of Canadian military? BTW, it is no brainer to know which posts will be approved and which not, I already outlined the rules several times. 10. Hi, Wendy I was wondering at what age do you think a man’s balls are the most sensitive to pain?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi Jj, that's a very interesting question. Linda mentioned something that the testicular sensitiveness is higher at the peek of men's sexual activity so around the age of 20-30. At his age, testicles are highly productive, often engorged with blood because of frequent arousals etc. This is also the age of most sex offenders so it benefits the self defense. On the other hand, in older men the scrotum becomes more saggy and hence accessible for most attacks. In conclusion regardless of an attacker's age the techniques I describe here are highly effective :) Wendy

    2. Thanks for answering Wendy. I remember that when I was a kid and received a few kicks and punches by girls to my testicles it hurt but not as badly now that I’m 25. I experienced the true meaning of ball pain when my testicles “dropped" or descended at about age 13. Then when I was struck in that area the pain was 100 times worse than before puberty. One time, a girl lightly tapped me there and believe or not I had to go to the nurse to get a bag of ice for my aching balls, just from a light tap. Teenage years were not so good for my balls LOL.

The discharges are quite brief in this case, but still, you see he is in great pain. This is rather evidence for effectiveness of the stun gun than for its ineffectiveness. Wendy

    6. Well yes, I will write about it. As I wrote already elsewhere, on one occasion he agreed I can check his testicles for any lumps as part of a preventive program I did but at the same time, I also inquisitively tested the great sensitiveness of the epididymis. There was an element of deception, I confess, but I also checked his balls so a win-win situation. I already got a backlash for doing this from some uptight readers. Wendy

    1. Hi, as I remember, she used Bob to demonstrate play-along scenarios, when you calm the attacker and get him undressed, you have the stun gun concealed in the handbag for instance, and then use it unexpectedly on his bare testicles. But don't worry, she just show us how to properly position electrodes on the scrotum or penis but she did not actually trigger the electric discharge. But it was quite unnerving for Bob, though :) She also used Bob to demonstrate how to apply a stun gun from behind, for instance, if you want to help another woman under attack. Regards, Wendy

    2. I'm kind of surprised she didn't demonstrate how effective it is. Almost even disappointed.

    3. I've been thinking about this recently, and I really don't understand. Linda put their genitals through a lot of pain, but stopped at the stun gun? Is it more dangerous than I realized? She usually only refrains from something if the boys would be permanently injured.

      Delete
    4. Hi Jay, the fact Linda did not use the stun gun on the boys' testicles rather signifies the effectiveness of this weapon. It can cause some permanent damage to the internal tissue almost like "frying". I read recently about a case when a woman defended herself from a rapist and used the stun gun on his testicles and one was fried entirely and had to be removed. Kudos to her. So Linda did not want to put their testicles at such risk. It is a pity they do not sell some stun guns with adjustable voltage so the risk is minimal and can be used for demonstration purposes even on testicles. Regards, Wendy

      Delete
    5. I doubt that Bob and Peter agree that that's a pity. Could the stun gun also damage the penis like that? (If Linda starts shocking penises, don't tell any of the boys it was my idea)

      Delete
    6. Hi Jay, don't worry Linda is quite responsible :) Of course, we discussed the penis as a possible target for a stun gun. The penis is generally more resilient to damage but if you direct one electrode to the glans it can be equally painful. Sometimes an erect penis with the exposed head is more accessible than testicles so yea just a small zap can effectively quench his fire :) Regards, Wendy

      Delete
    7. My question was meant to be less about how effective it is and more about if the same danger was present.

      Delete
    8. Hi Jay, I think so it would 'fry' the tissue and desensitise nerves, and the penis won't function as it should. Regards, Wendy
