The ethics and etiquette of using male training assistants in female self defense classes

You attended that weird self defense course, didn’t you? asked Teresa, one of my former university classmates when we went for a chat at a local cafĂ©.

The question surprised me because she always avoided this topic. I replied Yes, but it was not weird at all, maybe let’s say 'special', but quite useful actually. Pity you missed it, you could do something for your safety.I added as I sipped from my espresso.

She was curious I heard that lady…what is her name… Linda… used some young lads from the physical education department to demonstrate some nasty techniques, is it true you touched their naked genitals?

Touching balls in a female self defense course? No, c'mon that’s stupid…. We just squeezed, kicked, or kneed their dangling bare balls! I was expecting she would get my sarcastic joke, and we would chuckle together, but she looked at me with a horrified face. Crazy!... Poor guys, they should have worn a cup….

I wanted to comfort her, so I argued Don’t worry those male organs are actually quite resilient.” Maybe she did not like the image of savage girls testing their self defense skills on sensitive young men’s reproductive organs, so she rather changed the topic to life after covid and family issues. I do not blame her, and if you read the numerous comments on this blog, she is not the only one having some concerns for Bob and Peter.

Using our male student peers for training self defense with all it takes including the major techniques of last resort including testicles as a prime target. Yes, Bob and Peter were our 'darling attackers', we used them to learn male anatomy and how to exploit their major vulnerability, but their involvement was not completely without rules. They were not our lab rats or some kind of inanimate test objects as some suggested. We followed some ethical codex, and we also quickly learned the appropriate etiquette; when we veered Linda quickly put us back on the right track. Gaining empowering experience from learning self defense in a realistic, no-punches-pulled way is not a sign of hatred towards men but a necessity. Because, unfortunately the controversy continues, I decided to mention a couple of rules which a female participant should follow to make such a course a resourceful truly enjoyable experience yet with hearted consideration for male participants.

Showing emotions is good but do not
go overboard and be empathetic
Be empathic and respectful

You come to a self defense course to learn life-saving techniques; he comes there to help you in your quest. It can be difficult to you to interact with him physically and to unleash your inner strength but imagine what it takes for him to put his vulnerable organs (and not only testicles) at stake. He is there to play an attacker, a model to learn anatomy, it might be embarrassing for him to expose himself so a bunch of girls can inspect and learn the body pressure points and the peculiarity of male body to be used to their advantage.

Reality-based sparring could lead to a few bruises for you, but excruciating pain for him. It is easy to go overboard, but it is important to be respectful. Speaking you don’t have to completely hide your emotions and the newly gained empowerment but laughing at the guy rolling on the floor, instead of helping him to mitigate the testicular pain is not a part of good etiquette. Some, who read my previous posts would argue Linda did not follow this rule and accused her of being demeaning to Bob and Peter. I agree she was a strict teacher having things under control her focus was on our education in life-saving skills and less on the guys’ wellbeing but believe me she did not cross the line. And trust me she liked both guys.

Know his limits and be prepared with appropriate equipment

As I mentioned before the traditional teaching using heavily padded model attackers is simply obsolete, you need to feel the target, and he needs to react in a natural way. Believe me, you won’t be ever attacked by a Michelin man 😊

Shin protection is not a proper
equipment when practicing scoop kicks.
On the other hand, a single knee strike can rupture a testicle, a full GTP can easily tear the cords and damage the epididymis, so one has to find a balance between learning self defense properly but at the same time not creating unjustifiable risks for his reproductive organs. So, know the limits of his body; a good instructor tells you what you can and what is too much. In some cases (especially when kneeing full force is involved), you will need to use protective equipment, but as I said above use it wisely and only when absolutely necessary.

Linda was lucky she got generous funding to organize her course, so she did not spare expenses to buy quality protective gear for the guys. Those from metal and nicely cushioned with rubber are the best, a cheap plastic cup can be shattered into pieces that can pierce into the genitals and do more harm than good. The right size of the cup is also important so that the testicles and penis snugly fit in and don’t leave the selection to the guys themselves; they tend to overestimate the size of their genitals, and an unfitting cup can dislocate and lead to an injury.

You will also need ice packs, a lot of those. Very good props are also small soft pillows that can support the anguished scrotum when the guys lied on the mats to rest. This equipment mitigates the effects and facilitates recovery hence also minimizing the time being out of action as the course had to keep the time schedule.

Reward his sacrifice

It should not be one-way taking and not giving, it would not be fair to exploit him without any reward. For making such sacrifices he needs something in return. Show him you acknowledge his investment and made him feel appreciated. There does not need to be any financial remuneration; gentle caressing, soothing words, or signs of affection helped. How much to engage intimately is up to any woman I am not going to make any moral judgment here. All of this makes him happily return for the next class.

Whatever 'rules' that were in place regarding their involvement in the course were creating and amended as self-interest would dictate by the female instructor, who, as you acknowledge (finally) in this story: '...her focus was on our education in life-saving skills and less on the guys’ wellbeing.' Further, the 'rules' (if and as they existed) were not influenced in any way by potential legal accountability, since that was set aside by virtue of the signed waiver.

Your claim of rules to protect the training dummies physical well-being is not so compelling when considered objectively. It is reminiscent of the phrase 'subject to change without notice', since that is exactly what Linda did during the course. Her self-interest ruled (think of your full-force knee strike to Bob, and Linda pressuring him to remain in that class), not those of the two training dummies, who as you yourself reluctantly acknowledge, were never told the truth about what they would actually experience during the course by the same woman who made up the 'rules'.

  2. Dear Wendy,
I fully agree to what you have written in your new blog article like hopefully all decent men in this forum do. But interested women reading your content might ask
„Where can I find such a useful course like the one Linda managed to organize?“
Those courses that are profit-driven and led by men do not talk about male genital-related vulnerability. I have the impression that among men there is an unspoken agreement that this is a topic that that should never be dealt with in detail.
On the other hand there are courses that are led by women to a great part from different feminist movements who claim that self-defense training should only be practiced with other women with no man is ever allowed to enter the training room
often because it is emotionally much less stressful when no man gets engaged.
I know I have brought up this topic allready a few times but I think it is very important :How do interested girls and women find courses at least to some extent comparable to that of Linda? Are there Facebook groups oder Telegram groups about that ? Are there Non-Profit-Organizations holding such workshops ? Are there any informal courses that are just told about by word-of-mouth ?
Are there any kind of scattered networks who do this ?
I know that this is a very tough and direct question but maybe you could give your readers hints e.g. what keywords to use in google to find relevant search results.
Or maybe you can start your own private FB-Group to publish events.

    1. I can help you on that one. Its a very organized step by step plan perfect for your male brain to acomplish.
      1) Get a gf. A friend could also work. It would be ideal if she have some dom tendencies. But at the very minimun you need a woman to have intimacy with.
      2) Teach her to kick you in the balls: Do it as self defense or to please you but be sure she can effectively hit you where it counts.
      3) Give her free reign to kick you in the balls whenever she wants. This one is sacred. You will discover it will be probably be when you least expect it. It wont be very rewarding for you but really empowering for her.
      4) Here magic happens, She will share her joy with friends and other woman. And it will be a decent number. There you have your own Linda's course. wish you luck on your dreams.

  4. I see you edited your post I see - in more ways than one.... So, according to you, there is no need to pay men for taking those risks. They just sign the waiver and accept the risks. Gentle caressing, soothing words and 'signs of affection' ? These are I presume to be utilized after the guy has been kicked, kneed, etc. in the testicles and is on the ground in pain, with the female student standing over him. You really do see men as things for use for the benefit of women. They're not even worth paying 'pocket money' to, according to you.

  5. You actually on the previous board get on the right question before most of your readers. How you can take advantage of the perks of your training without your man (or any man) running scared to the hills. he cant just "man up" as you stated specifically your training is more powerful than traditional manliness. And maybe its unfair but he can just date a woman who wont kick him in the balls even to safe her own life (she might try but with lot less chances of success).

On the developed world you Wendy are probably among the very few woman who actually have a incentive to please man. Even if its only as deception to strike their testicles, or as a comfort for him to tolerate you exploring how much power you can have aiming at his weakness.

  6. Dear André,
this blog is not about any sexual fetishes or special interests from you but much more about enabling women to effectively defend themselves from rapists. And as far I have seen there are virtually no self defense courses that provide the necessary realistic training the way Wendy describes and explains in this blog.
So the question remains : Females if they want so need to know where they can get that kind of realistic training suggested in this blog here. Andre if you are not really interested in the savety and security of women I do not understand why you are commenting in this blog at all.

Linda's combat method its pretty much using her brains and yes "sensuality" to get an opening to deliver an attack on his testicles. What you are not seeing its the course its decent on defense but flat out amazing on the attack. Its best asset its on its endless possibilities for woman to get power physically or psychologically.
If you note this its pretty much you who ask for a straight line for getting kicked in the nuts. And i provided you one. You may not like it but if you don't then find a better way. Ultimately its you who charge us with your problem and over all are disrespectful to me when i actually tried to help you.
Ultimately the solution to your problem relies to try to think more paths than the straight line. Because after all. What its your contribution on the blog? Experience? Theory? Promoting the blog to other woman? If any you sound like a liability.

once more: I think we do not understand each other. This Blog is not about me and you but to prevent sexual crimes committed by male bastards. What I am trying to do here is to raise questions serving the cause of this blog. And by the way, I have
attended a number of self-defense courses and had a number of straight discussions with male instructors about the effectivity about the things they teach.
And by the way I recommended this blog to 5 female friends of me. But enough now, I am sure Wendy is already getting angry about us misusing this blog for things completely irrelevant to its actual cause.

  8. ".... instead of helping him to mitigate the testicular pain is not a part of good etiquette...

Getting an ice pack for the guy whom the woman just kneed/kicked, etc. in the testicles is a very minimal courtesy don't you think? It is 'courteous' I suppose, but it's not like the female is 'helping' him mitigate the pain, is it? That's like handing a guy a paintbrush when he needs it and claiming you're 'helping' him paint...

Nor do 'gentle caressing' or 'soothing words' mitigate the pain. Those might (or might not) be well-intentioned, although one could see this practice as somewhat bizarre, given that the whole idea is as you say to 'practice the technique and see the 'result' or 'effect'. Intentionally causing the guy pain is the ENTIRE reason the techniques are used. Following up with 'gentle caressing and soothing words' in those circumstances are by nature going to be contrived and somewhat disingenuous (recall your inquiries with Bob and Peter while sitting next to them while they were recovering from the pain you caused them, asking the guy to describe the pain he was experiencing? - how disgusting was that of you??).

You likely included those recommendations to make your course seem less sinister to male assistants, whom you don't even find are worthy of being paid, and to promote these courses being more common. This and your general views towards males make your suggestions around 'reward' described above a less than credible and rather bizarre notion to begin with.

    2. Perhaps you could have 'acknowledgment cards' printed and sell them on your blog to female students and instructors of women's self-defense courses that involve male training assistants/lab rats/testicular punching bags. The could have different messages printed on them, like they have inside fortune cookies sold in some countries. When the guy is laying on the ground after being kicked, the female student could drop the card on the floor next to the guy. Alternatively, the woman could place it on top of the ice pack she hands the guy (if and when she bothers to do so).

You could sell them in packs of 50 or 100, and earn income for your 'I respect men' blog...

Naturally, you want to be able to maximize the time available to strike their testicles, and keep the time they have available to recover from the pain to a minimum. So, ice packs all really all about the schedule, and a lot less about expressing care for those suffering from the strikes, aren't they now Wendy?

  9. I would also suggest that long before 25 classes had been held, any male training assistant having been kicked, etc. in his testicles multiple times each class would find the 'gentle caressing, soothing words, or signs of affection' rang pretty hollow...

How much of a dumbass are you? It 'might be embarrassing for him'? Are you even intellectually capable of grasping the basic idea that the overwhelming majority of normal people - including females even, would find it particularly uncomfortable and embarrassing having their genitals probed, prodded, manipulated and on display for the benefit of the opposite sex (all strangers) to learn the intimate details of their anatomically sensitive and vulnerable areas to strike in self-defense.

One can only imagine what is was really like (from their perspective, not yours) for Bob and Peter to have Linda manipulate their genitals in front of the female students and compare the size of their testicles using an orchidometer. When she pinched the epididymis in front of the female students, that must have been a joy for one or both of those guys as well.

What an incredibly vile person you are Wendy. Just nauseating. Fuck you.

  13. Hey self-defense rocket scientist, one of your images above has a caption indicating that shin guards are not effective protection when practicing scoop kicks. That kick is one of your favorites in this blog, so I presume you would want female instructors to teach it in future self-defense classes.

Your story is intended to suggest that females should care to some degree about the welfare of the male training assistants, yet you only speak about groin guards. According to you those aren't effective against scoop kicks.

Was this an unintentional oversight? You're attempting to portray your course as one that cared about Bob and Peter, so what about future Bob's and Peter's when the students practice scoop kicks?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Hi Evan, I think you did not get it. The guy is wearing shin guards but according to his expression no groin guard, which is stupid because the girl is practicing scoop kicks. With respect to your suggestion that the female students fuck future male lab rats as an 'acknowledgment' of their participation in the course and risking their health, why didn't you suggest for any potential future male lab rats reading that story that they double wrap themselves to protect themselves from all the STD's some of those female trollops will almost certainly carry. Wouldn't that be good to include? Face it, some of the future female students are likely to be real sluts in their personal lives, and the male lab rats should not have to pay a price for it...

If you had the courage (you don't) to serve as a training dummy for a men's self-defense course, we would ensure the following - all of which is 100% consistent with what you claim on this blog: you would not get paid a cent; you would sign a waiver giving up all your legal rights; what risks of injury/permanent injury are acceptable to expose you to would be determined by the male instructor with no input from you; expect to be demeaned and embarrassed; expect to feel severe pain; expect to have your genitals exposed, handled, probed, and discussed; expect the training scenarios to reflect authentic self-defense actions by the men; the male instructor is the sole decision-maker regarding whether or not you should (or can) seek professional medical care; acknowledgements of your contributions in the form of a nodding the head will be provided at the sole discretion of the male students.

The above is not an all-inclusive list, but it should be more than sufficient. We look forward to having you as a training dummy very soon.

    1. Hi, thank you for your question. Actually, Linda did it before she became faculty at the university, she did it to her would-be rapist. Linda told us about it, but I don't want to go into detail now. Yes, it is possible to rupture a testicle with a hand even a woman can do it. It requires a fair amount of strength so training the strength of hand grip is a good idea. Linda always compared testicles to fruits. The testicle is like a fruit with a hard shell and soft inside. The hard shell is tunica albuginea the soft tissue is seminiferous tubules. If you can crush a small apple or a non-yet-ripe plum you can rupture a testicle. Regards, Wendy

You make her sound like she was doing them a big favor in buying them decent equipment. The truth is that high quality metal groin protectors can bought for less than 40 Euros each. Big deal. What if she did not get good funding? Would she expect the guys to pay for their own, since they were getting 'pocket money' for their services? Remember that awarding those ECTS credits costs Linda nothing but a bit of administrative time, nothing more. Hardly an example of being overly 'generous' to two guys who had no legal protection and risked their health. You made it a big deal in your post to promote the lie that you care(d) about male lab rats, which of course is false. Good try, but another FAIL.

I agree she was a strict teacher having things under control her focus was on our education in life-saving skills and less on the guys’ wellbeing but believe me she did not cross the line. And trust me she liked both guys. '

    Two questions:

1). What was the 'line', and who drew it?
2). Why should it matter if she liked the two male training assistants or not? Are you suggesting that if she did NOT like them, she could treat them in a more vicious manner, be more demeaning to them than she was, etc., etc.? What kind of ethical behaviour would that have been?

  39. Metaphorically, you’re a nutcase. In reality, you’re the same thing.
